Plenty of time has passed since the Vogon construction crew blew up the bridges between the planets in Mateway.

Meanwhile, the crew of the spaceship C3D2 is sweating hard in the engine room, trying to restart the spaceship's broken Bistr-O-Mateik drive so they are no longer trapped in the orbit of the dying planet Earth.

Since the blown-up bridges disrupted the Mate supply throughout the galaxy, the engines have been failing repeatedly, and the Chaotonauts are finding it increasingly difficult to maintain their spaceship. Not only are the Chaotonauts lacking basic supplies, but the Matecalypse has broken out all over Mate Street due to the broken infrastructure.

However, it seems no one intends to rebuild the bridges. So what can we do? Our Chaotonauts are stuck.

When all hope seems lost, the small robot V4T3 enters the engine room of the space station with an expired crate of Mate and announces: "I just found that crate under the stairs to the bridge. It was supporting the bottom three steps."

With this, the Chaotonauts can get the Bistro-O-Mateik running again, albeit in a makeshift manner.

Freshly caffeinated, they set out to rebuild the blown-up bridges - because someone has to do it!
